Chiblets - Adorable Geeky Sculptures!

Ever wonder what your favorite geeky characters would look like as children? Dyani at Chiblets has beat you to it and has made some the cutest sculptures ever. Each character is depicted as a child holding their favorite “toy.” For Chewbacca it’s a Stormtrooper’s helmet. For Captain Malcolm Reynolds it’s a miniature Firefly. For Link, it’s a ride-able Epona. There’s just so many cute adorable pairings.

Each Chibi sculpture is about 3″ tall. They are hand painted, and sculpted from polymer clay. They take her 6-8 hours of straight work. But the end result is amazing. It really proves she’s a fan of the shows with all the small little details she adds. And nothing melts our geeky hearts more than seeing an “inside joke” of our favorite characters come to life. Something that one would only know if you watched the show and loved it as much as you did.

She also has so much more that she hasn’t put up: Harry Potter series, Buffy Scooby Gang (excited to see this one), Indiana Jones series, and the Disney princesses. Below are just a FEW pictures of what she has to offer. If you’re a fan of Firefly or Star Wars or going “awwww” every 5 seconds definitely check out her shop.

To My Gamer of Sorts Readers

Wow! I still have some of you!? Shocking! Well, my friends you have been very loyal. Thank you so much for supporting my blog and myself. I have decided to close her down. I have not posted in many many months. 90% of my energy outside of my work has become on this site, and it’s projects. Any personal blogging will be done here as well. I apologize to my readers that were expecting more from me, and from the video games we play together.

Thank you so much for your support.

Welcome to the new site!

Ok, it’s not a complete makeover! But! It’s a great start. Now you can easily see what’s newly been added and I have a spot so I can ramble a little bit. Best of both worlds! Right?… :D

There are still a few small things I have to do, but the bulk is complete and I can edit it as I update.

Thanks everyone for their patience! :D

And as it turns out I still can’t get over my habit of clicking and exploring because everything looks interesting. Sooner or later I forget what I was searching for in the first place and well luckily this time I did find something totally awesome. Angry Bird plushies!! So cute.

All you need is:

  • small amounts of the following:
  •  red fleece

Updates, DotA2, Full Metal Alchemist and "Little Foos"

Hey guys! Just a quick update on progress and what I’ve been thinking of doing. Right now I’m in the process of deciding what to complete first. At the moment I don’t have any commissions so all I have are personal dolls to work on. Or dolls that I would just add to the shop. So the decision is to finish working on Alphonse from Full Metal Alchemist, or start up working on Lina from DotA 2. I’ve been watching a lot of gameplay of Dota2 in preparation for when I finally get a key and can play it. Lina would be a fit for my gaming life :) With that said I have started on a Wretched Hottie doll for HoN requests I just haven’t got the drive to complete it. Her concept is really quite bland. She’s just purple.. I forced some black in there because I didn’t want it to look horrible. An update pic of her is below. I don’t think I’ll finish her anytime soon. Maybe next week?

Which brings me to “Little Foos.” I wanted to think of a project that wouldn’t take long that I could sell  at a cheaper price than my sackdolls. Little Foos popped into my head. These crocheted dolls only stand about 3″ tall and can be hanged from a keyring, rearview mirror, purse or backpack. They are really cute! Pictures of Pandamonium and Nymphora (both HoN) are below. I’ll be putting these guys up for sale soon, for around $20-$25 not including shipping. Tell me what you think!

Amigurumi Moogle (FF11) with Pattern

While browsing a nerdy crochet site I saw these cute little cats, bears, and bunnies and thought I could take that pattern and make a moogle! Sigh, gamer minds..

Here’s the pattern at Nerdigurumi. I used the cat pattern for the ears, bunny tail for the nose and ball on top. I used a chain 3, 6 row piece and wrapped it around some wire I had hanging around.

For the wings:

Chain 8
SC 1 row skipping last stitch.
Turn, don’t chain, skip first stitch, SC till end.
Turn, chain, SC row skipping last stitch.
Turn, don’t chain, skip first stitch, SC till end.
Finish off.

For the bag: (make two)

I just chained 5 , 4 rows.
Sew both pieces together.
You can leave the top open if you like, I did :)

Then I just chain stitched until I got the correct length to go around the body. For me it was 20.

My Own Sackboys... Squall From FF8

After doing some research on sackboys I came across this youtube channel that actually has great tutorials on how to make him. I followed along (keep in mind I’ve only been crocheting for 3 weeks) and I made my first sack boy after three – four days. He came out small, weirdly proportioned, but cute none the less. After that one I decided I would try again, this time working on her Ezio (Assassin’s Creed) tutorial. While he didn’t come out exactly like hers, it came out pretty darn good. I’m very pleased with him. So pleased I’ve decided to branch off and create my own random sackboys. Jon’s brother had a b-day the other week and due to finances we were unable to get him a gift that satisfied Jon’s generosity. The idea was brought up to make him a sackboy, not one, but two.

Jon asked him who his favorite video game characters were and he quickly replied Rinoa and Squall from FF8. I took on the challenge. He still doesn’t know and we haven’t sent him them yet because I still have to work on Rinoa. I just finished Squall tonight and I must say finishing a doll with no tutorial and having it turn out pretty darn decent has been satisfying. Enjoy the pics, and who knows, I may follow in JellyBean’s foot steps and make a few tutorials of my own.

Sorry for the bad quality, used my phone instead of my camera…cuz it was dead…again… ><

2010 Blizzard Holiday Dessert Contest - WoW and Starcraft Cakes

For Christmas 2010 Blizzard held a contest for people to submit their pictures for Blizzard related cake themes. I have no idea what they won, or if they even did win anything. Another sad note is the honorable mentions don’t have credits! Enjoy the cakes! Link to contest page. Check it out for more cakes, and credits.
