Commissioning Sackdoll
Thank you for your interest in commissioning a sackdoll. I want to make this experience a personal one that you will enjoy and one to leave you excited with once you receive your doll. We’ll be in contact throughout the making of your doll, with updates, and e-mails. If you have any questions, I respond to all e-mails in a timely matter. If you would like to purchase a pre-made doll you may do so at my Etsy shop.

What size are the sackdolls?
Most sackdolls range from 9″ – 12″ tall. This does not include hats. For instance, Vivi has a very tall hat. With his hat he ended up being 14″ tall.
What materials do you use?
I crochet with mostly 100% acrylic yarn. I have been known to use wool. I also use felt, fleece, and buttons. Each doll is stuffed with polyester poly-fill.
Any allergy concerns?
I use acrylic. I also live in a cat-friendly, smoke-free home.
What comes with every commission?
- You will receive regular (mostly daily) updates on your doll’s progress. See your doll come to life, and get excited every time you see an e-mail from me! Unless you opt-out for this feature.
- A concept sketch that we will discuss and modify to how you would like the doll.
- Option for a refund up until a doll is shipped. There is however a non-refundable fee to every sackdoll purchase to cover materials and labor.
- A one-of-a-kind sackdoll that you will enjoy.
- If you are a return shopper then a special secret gift will be included in your order.
- Automatic entrance in any sackdoll giveaways in the future.
What items are discussed with the Extra’s Package?
Some dolls just need more! A necklace, charm, just more!
With the EP you get to add so many wonderful accents to your doll. Take for example the below dolls. Adding these small pendants really heightened the identity of the doll. It’s the little things that can sometimes bring the most happiness. The EP package includes pendants, charms, jewelry, buttons, craft foam, magnets and beading.
If you commission two dolls we can have them be able to hold hands, or even kiss with the use of magnets.
Who can I have a sackdoll created of?
Just about anyone you desire! Just ask and we’ll see what we can do. Want a sackdoll based on your WoW, FF, or other MMO character? No problem. Based on a TV show? No problem. Yourself or a loved one? No problem. Let’s see what we can create together and you can receive a truly 100% one-of-a-kind doll. I love creating something new, I love looking for challenges. During negotiations I’ll be asking you for screenshots/pictures of your character. I’ll need front, both sides, and back.
My character has a weapon, will you be able to make that?
Honestly it depends on the weapon. We’ll be able to discuss this during negotiations.
How does the waiting list and commission list work?
I’ll only be working on 1 doll at a time. This doll is on the “commission list” meaning payment was received, negotiations are over, and I am in the process of creating the doll. Any requests after these will be placed on a “waiting list.” There will be 8 names on the waiting list. Once a name reaches the top I begin negotiations with the person. Once I am finished with a doll on the commission list the first person on the waiting list will be moved up. Anyone submitting sackdoll requests when the waiting list is full will be added to the queue. All commissions are on a first come first serve basis.
If I have contacted a person on the waiting list and they have not responded in 4 days they will be taken to the bottom of the queue. If payment isn’t received within 3 days after negotiations are finished the person is taken to the bottom of the queue.
You will be notified once I receive your completed survey your spot on the list, and how many names are in front of you.
How long does it take to make a doll?
At the moment I do have a RL job.
Dolls depending on the difficulty take about 4-10 days to complete. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.
How much does a doll cost?
Dolls start at $85. If you choose to opt-in for an EP (Extras Package) then the price will go up depending on the extra materials. Payment is due in full before work on a doll begins. There is a $30 non-refundable deposit for base dolls, and a $45 non-refundable deposit for EP dolls. This fee is to cover materials and labor in the event you change your mind once the doll is started. If you ask for a refund your money will be returned to you minus the non-refundable deposit.
Shipping is not included. I find US shipping is $6 while outside of the US is $15. Due to my inexperience with shipping outside of the US I offer refunds on shipping if the difference is more than $2.
Why is the deposit so high and non-refundable?
The deposit is to cover costs and labor. Even asking for a refund the very next day I may have already completed the body of a sackdoll. That’s hours lost, materials lost, and other people’s time wasted that truly wanted a sackdoll. If you opt in for the Extras Package then I probably have already been out shopping for charms, pendants, specific beading and material that will probably be only use-able for your doll. The extra deposit is to insure that my time and money will not be wasted.
How can I pay you?
I accept PayPal as payment. A link will be sent to you once we finish negotiations. Please do not send payment until negotiations have finished. I also have a Google Checkout account, if you prefer to use that.
I saw XYZ doll on your blog how can I purchase that doll?
Unless it was a commission most of my dolls are available here at my Etsy shop. If it is sold out, then you can commission one just like it using this process. Be sure to check out Etsy first :D!
I don’t want to commission a doll, I want to commission XYZ.
Please check out the below tabbed menu, for “Other Custom Items.” Thanks!
I sent the survey, but I never heard back from you.
This has yet to happen. However if you happen to be my first unlucky person then please use the contact from from the menu above and tell me you filled out a survey. Be sure when you fill out a survey in the future to check the box after the survey about submitting it into queue. That button alone is the one that notifies me of completed surveys, so it’s very important!
*Key note* The term “negotiations” refers to colors, design, and any extras that you would like added to the doll. It does NOT refer to the price. Prices are NOT negotiable due to the time it takes to make each doll, and were reached after asking people what seemed fair.
Here is the list of the process from start to finish, for both you and me.
After you complete the survey, I will send you an e-mail using the one you provided to give you information on your position in the list. If you are at the top of the list, then negotiations will start.
During negotiations we will have a lot of e-mail correspondence to insure you receive the doll you want. We will go back and forth about clothing, hair, colors, materials, and anything we could add from the extra’s package to give your doll more bang for it’s buck.
Once I get a good idea of what you’re after, I will send you a sketch of your doll. There are examples below. Please ignore that the sketch looks like it was drawn by a 5-year-old, I’m a crocheter not an Engineer!
Once you approve of the sketch, ideas, and materials I will send you an invoice from Paypal for the total amount. Once that’s paid I will begin work on the doll, shopping for extras, etc.
If you opt in for regular updates, then you’ll start receiving pictures like the below examples. You’ll be able to see your doll come to life.
Once the doll is finished you’ll receive “glamour shots.” These will be shot in natural light, with a white background from all angles. At this point I will verify the shipping address, and ask if you approve of the doll to be shipped.
Once I receive confirmation I will ship out your doll with tracking number (if in the US).
After I see that the doll is delivered I will be sending an optional survey for you to take. This 3 minute survey will ask how your experience was, anything you’d change, and your overall satisfaction with the doll. This survey helps me improve my customer service, process, and find any holes that I may have over looked in the process.
If you are interested in commissioning a doll please fill out the Q&A below. Please note: At the end of the survey there is a follow up question asking if you would like to be placed in the queue. It is very important that you check that box and submit otherwise I will not be informed that you submitted the survey. Thank you!
If you would like to commission a custom FuFu Bun, or Octopi, please follow this link to my Etsy shop custom items request. Please give me a list of colors, and detailed description of what you would like.
